Bob the Alien's Tour of the Solar System is Caverswall Palace's popular astronomy website. Originally created in 2000 and still going strong, the website allows the visitor to join Bob the Alien and his dog, Bobsdog, for a tour around the Solar System and the Universe beyond! |

| Bob
the Alien's Tour of the Solar System is split into sections dedicated to
each of the main celestial objects. It also looks into the history of
astronomy and space exploration. Also included are useful resources such
as a table of all the planets and dwarf planets, an A-Z glossary of space
terms, a timeline of space exploration and a section where visitors can
ask Bob the Alien a question about space.
Although the site was originally aimed at the younger astronomer (7-11 year olds), research shows that it appears to appeal to a much broader age range and as such, some of the newer content is slightly more advanced. The site doesn't try to patronise the visitor but at the same time doesn't attempt to be over technical. Its aim is to make its subject matter accessible and interesting, and also not to take it too seriously! The site currently gets about 15,000 to 20,000 unique visitors a month and each year sees approximately a 50% increase on total visitors than the year before, although visitor numbers do drop off during school holidays. It is linked to from several educational websites and is a School Zone Five Star site. The site was recently given a face-lift, its first major update in its nine year history, and is set to be expanded further with new articles for each section of the site. FOLLOW
